this goes out to all y'all kids who were born in the late 80's lived and had fun/or not in the 90's and early 2000s. what do you guys think yeah? what do you remember from back then?
i remember when things were much simpler and made more sense. i find myself going back there with every song, tv show, movie and game i see that reminded me of the good ol days. the days when music made sense and it wasnt random noise made by space aliens, american idol rejects, those critters who sang and massacred old favorites on (cringes) GLEE, and so on... thank god there are a few who still remember Classic rock. Classic rock was best rock. ROCK! AND BARRY MANILOW! oh and do you find yourself knowing the words to songs that you heard from back then? yeah i do...
where TV shows were wholesome and fun. and the channels they were on were also wholesome and great. i remember the days when i was a kid and nickelodeon had great cartoons and a few (A FEW and very well made) live shows. Pre-Spongebob era Nickelodeon! in the days when Hey! arnold was around, Rocko had his modern life... and my personal favorite Invader Zim was still turning our minds into pools of madness and screaming were still around. Cartoon network too who also had some great shows, today they still do and im glad about that but hell CN bring back Adult Swim to the philippines why dont cha? i also remember the time... when MTV used to play more music videos than... whatever it is they got these days. wheres the music MTV? WHERE? less Reality shows and more... uhhh... hmmm...
Movies back then were great too... today they are pretty good with all that new CGI tech but most of the time i find that most movies are sequels or prequels or revisions or remakes or something of some old movie or fairy tale or game from hasbro or comic book. there are a few good ones but still... A FEW. id rather wait till its on TV than shell out some hard earned money to watch it in the theaters.
i also remember games before DLCs, Online... stuff and them being all mainstream.i like it better when i had to kill X no. of enemies with X weapon to unlock X armor or X gun. now its just buy them all with this X DLC. no fun i say no fun in buying something... its not special when you buy it instead of actually earning it through blood guts and headshots. i also remember back when games didnt require online registrations or Log ins to play them. remember the old Diablo kids? back where you open it, start new game, choose character and play? yeah... no requiring of connection to play you just... played. also Mass Effect? before we just started the game and played. no need to go to cerberus network or that origin thing. yeah those were more simpler times... less bullshit and more on blood, guts, bullets, gasoline, and magic... MAGIC I SAY!
also, you kids remember when the internet was... well before rule 34 was everywhere. yeah... used to share that stuff by means of floppy diskette, go look it up children. this is what daddy used to have before USBs also THE PHONES. remember when we used to have little plastic bricks with buttons on them? the ones that when you dropped them they still sort of worked. yeah... those things. the ones with little antennas and screens that only showed numbers and letters and the games were snake lol REMEMBER THAT ONE? XDDD
i hate to see what the future brings for us... and at the same time im eager to see what the future brings for us. but its always a good idea to remember the good ol days before all this crap ever happened to us. good times... all this stuff i said was from listening to too many old songs... but at least they were cool songs.
