continuing my little obsession with everything Metro related here i have made a piece that took me 3 days of figuring things out, constant re-doing and re-drawing, several coffee cups of deep thought and a pair of calzones. and i am DAMNED proud of this one.
this is van's little space in his home station which is basically a very small room, lightly furnished and has just enough room for one guy and his gear. its a place for one to have some privacy in a crowded little station of 120. his is one of the more spacious rooms even if it is the size of a bathroom (no, this is not the station's restroom) which he earned after building a reputation as the 'go to guy' of his station. he has a desk from which he plans his trips through the metro, writes things in his journal or where he cleans his guns. a bed that takes up most of the space where he likes to read. most of his books are from scavenging up on the surface or bought from other stations. a shelf or two crammed with books, utensils, an oddity or two he found in the tunnels like a glowing pod plant, and a bottle or two of some shroom vodka or a home-made coffee maker where he brews some mushroom tea. on the walls are reminders of the world he used to live in from postcards and posters of places and scenery before the great blast to pictures of friends from long ago. he also has an old Laptop that still works where he plays music and watches old movies. how does he power a such a device in a world with little to no sources of power well he's got himself his own universal charger. a little hand-operated dynamo that allows him to use it and several other battery operated equipment he might have. songs are limited but at least he gets to use a little homemade record player from one of his neighbors to play some of the older records he has. overall its a rather comfortable little niche he managed to acquire through hardwork and some bribing but its better than a single bunk that most other station citizens have.
right, this piece took a whole lot of trial and error and several rather frustrated moments of doing stuff over. and this piece i used almost 50 layers just to get the walls, the pictures on the walls, shading and other things just to work. the pictures on the walls were mostly stuff i found online and pasted and manipulated to fit and just blend in to the walls. especially the two pictures there of one Tiff (=0-ProjectZero-0
) and one Puffy (*Ravenpuff
) which i did some messing about to make them look dirty and old... pictures. but overall im happy with this piece and im happy with my shading which took a really long time. this be one of a few more Metro related pics and as soon as Last Light is out theres gonna be even more! >D
